BatchBasket and Pocket Shutdown

If you're reading this, you probably know: Pocket shut down. As the developer of BatchBasket, that means BatchBasket has shut down too.

BatchBasket was the first software project I built that solved a real problem for me. I grew tired of the hundreds of tabs I had open while learning to code, so I tried to give it order. I shared it on the Chrome Web Store with little hope that it might be used. Seeing people actually use it, review it, even send a couple donations and thank-you's... that cemented my love for building things that solve problems. That, and having clean tabs.

I stopped using Pocket a while ago, but watching you all still find BatchBasket useful kept it alive for me. Thank you. I'm glad it served you.

The Timeline

Here's what you need to know:

• May 22, 2025: Pocket removed from app stores
• July 8, 2025: Pocket fully shuts down
• October 8, 2025: All user data permanently deleted

BatchBasket stopped working when Pocket did. I'll follow Chrome Web Store deprecation policies.

Moving On

Pocket allowed users to export their data before the shutdown. If you moved your bookmarks somewhere else, I hope it's serving you well.

If you're still looking for a home: Mozilla suggested Instapaper, Raindrop.io, or Matter. I'd recommend Readwise. (But remember, save to read, not just to collect.)
